How A Dog Can Lead to A More Adventurous Lifestyle

When you’re driving down the street and you see a person who’s walking their dog, they always look so happy, don’t they? The dog owner strolls with leisurely confidence as you, the driver, fume with impatience at the slow car in front of you. So, what’s the difference between the two scenarios? It’s not the car; it’s the dog.

Studies show that dog owners generally feel happier, which leads to a confident, positive existence. According to Dr. Deborah Wells of Queen’s University, dog owners show spikes in happiness levels and general health, as they have less minor and major ailments throughout their life.

Also, studies show that the simple act of petting a dog can produce endorphins that cause happiness levels to spike. Many military officers that suffer from wounds of war (both mental and physical) utilize therapy dogs.

When you own a dog, you need to ensure that the dog is fed, exercised, and loved. If you can succeed at these three basic steps of dog ownership, you’ll realize that you are responsible for the happy life of another living creature, which enhances your confidence in your abilities.

The act of exercising a dog allows us to exercise as well. When you take your dog for a walk, you are, in fact, walking as well. When you throw the ball for your dog at the park, you are, in fact, spending time throwing a ball, which exercises your body. To enhance your sense of adventure, take your dog with you on hikes and fishing trips.

Finally, when we’re in the proximity of a dog, we feel less lonely. When you’re sitting around the house by yourself on a Friday night, you feel like you have company. A dog’s smile and tail-wag allows us to feel happy as well. There’s a reason that a dog is called man’s best friend.
