Sea To Summit's Travelling Light Gear Brings Efficiency To Travel

Tom Malone/Adventure Tribune
Disclaimer: Sea To Summit provided us with gear to sample; however, all opinions and experiences are our own.

Over the course of the last few months, The Adventure Tribune crew has had the opportunity to experiment with some products from Sea To Summit’s Travelling Light line. This product line is designed to make usual travel items lightweight and compact, so travelers can have access to their usual comforts without sacrificing space and weight in their luggage.

The Travelling Light line is incredible. It provides an extensive range of products, from pillows, to traveler’s wallets, to towels. Most products are designed to take up no more space than a fist, and typically weigh under a pound (some even weigh a mere 2 ounces).

We’ve tested three products extensively, and plan to use them for large-scale adventures as the summer travel season approaches.

Ultra-Sil Dry DayPack

The Ultra-Sil Dry DayPack from Sea To Summit gives backpackers day-to-day mobility in any environment. This daypack compacts into a 3.5-ounce, 2.5 x 5-inch pouch that’s about the size of my fist, but it unfolds into a completely waterproof, 22-liter backpack.

The pack features a compression lacing system on the outside of its shell, so I can carry a light, waterproof jacket, or a rolled up sweatshirt (even though this pack allows for enough space inside as well).

Large Pocket Towel

The Large Pocket Towel gives travelers a compact, effective necessity that fits into even the smallest carry-on.

This pocket towel is composed of microfibres; it’s built for lightweight, efficient travel. I used (and will continue to use) the Large size, which compacts to 6 x 3.5 inches and weighs a mere 3.9 ounces. It unfolds to 24 x 48 inches, which allows plenty of surface area. It absorbs efficiently and dries with a simple wring-out. It also comes in smaller and larger sizes.

Aeros Pillow Ultralight

The Aeros Pillow Ultralight allows travelers and backpackers to carry a comfortable pillow with them at all times without dedicating half of your luggage to a bulky pillow.

This pillow compacts to 2.5 x 3.5 inches and weighs a mere 2.1 ounces. When it’s fully inflated, it spans 14 x 10 inches and offers a strong support that doesn’t deflate overnight. Inflating this pillow only takes a single breathe.

Overall Efficiency

The Travelling Light product line from Sea To Summit has dramatically enhanced our backpacking/traveling efficiency during our adventures through Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.
On upcoming adventures to Peru, France, and Ireland, we plan to use the three items mentioned above and more from this line.
